It’s finally here!
Spread the word! [ai]’s new album, No Cure for the Princess Disease, was released last Friday! Stream and/or download it now on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and other platforms!
Not sure what to expect?
[ai] get it. There’s already a lot of great music out there and you’re reluctant to take a chance on something new. But read this excerpt from a recent press release to learn about the sort of musical journey No Cure for the Princess Disease will take you on:
“With innovative and surprising variations on the genres of hard rock, alternative rock, prog rock, rockabilly, pop, punk, and reggae, [ai]’s Korea-themed record offers listeners a wide variety of auditory experiences. Mark Will’s songwriting is firmly rooted in the best of the classic rock tradition, his workmanlike basslines and emotive vocals are complemented by the virtuoso performances of guitarist C.J. Hsu and drummer Cody Byassee, and studio wizard Zen Chien’s production is, as always, state-of-the-art. It might safely be said that there is at least one song for every type of music fan on No Cure for the Princess Disease.”
Now doesn’t that sound like an album you need to hear? Come on, give it a listen! [ai] know you want to!
Wait, what? “Korea-themed”?
Yes, as the press release mentions—and as you yourself might have surmised from the album cover art—No Cure for the Princess Disease is thematically connected to Korea. It is, in fact, “the Korea album” of [ai]’s Far East Trilogy. (For more on this, see Carmina Formosa #2 and listen to Mark Will’s interview with Craig Branch on the “Can’t Find My Way Home” podcast.) Inasmuch as the 9 songs on No Cure for the Princess Disease were inspired by life in Seoul, you can even think of the album as an alternative soundtrack to Squid Game!
Sound and vision
The video for “The Subway Song,” which is the first single from the album, is attracting a respectable amount of attention on YouTube. In case you missed it, here’s that link again:
Production on the video for the second single, the punk-inspired “You’re So Lame,” is almost complete. Look for it to be uploaded to YouTube in the next week or two.
